I read, I write, it’s my own choice,
Words on paper are my literary voice.
I see, I write, all figments of the mind,
These are my paintings that one will find.

I hear, I write, not to compete,
Rhyming the ends, feeling the beat.
I trust, I write, to put my views out there,
That’s how my heart with the world I share.

I feel, I write, it’s like my doctor’s cure,
What one reads is what I am, that I do assure.
I think, I write, creating my comfort zone,
Words in my mind never make me feel alone.

Enough about me, let’s talk about You,
It’s You whom the writer credits all through.
All the senses we have are used when we write,
To take in Your creations, to find respite.

Not just letters in sync, not just a flowery line,
You, our subject, we try to make divine.
The mind and soul agree, show no signs of strife,
You become the Poem when words come to life.

I’ve seen on social media, writers in bunch,
Lamenting on technology over a quick lunch.
Quarreling and speculating in so many ways,
How people have become ‘tech-crazy’ these days.

And some time back, I used to be a part,
Of this topic that is this poem’s heart.
But today, I’m flying to celebrate a friend’s childbirth,
And IVF gave that mother a life and its mirth.

While flying for 3 hours I could only think,
Isn’t this all technology that keeps us in sync ?
They say that it destroys relations to the core,
Drifts people apart, abandonment and more.

But they don’t realise how a Mother feels within,
When she sees her child over a video call screen.
They don’t understand a Father’s relieved sigh,
When his child receives the money he sent in the blink of an eye.

They can’t comprehend that Brother’s utter bliss,
When he’s able to arrive in 2 hours to surprise his Sis.
Isn’t it all technology itself, but in different forms ?
But the writers won’t portray this, as it defies their norms.

They write how technology has broken more connections,
And publish it on social media to reach widespread nations.
The likes they get assures them, that talent is their pride,
And from the open truth, all they do is run away and hide.

Today I realized this and soon others will get the buzz,
Technology doesn’t madden, it’s the need of approval that does.
Their lack of acceptance does, be it big or small,
And their inner emptiness is the biggest reason of them all.

This Is My Voice

Look at me. What do you see?

A face of determination or eyes of glee?

The wrinkles on my fore or my white old hair,

Which aspect of me does your lens’ focus care?

I might look withered but the fire will never be dead,

Why else do you see the vermillion on my forehead?

The knot in orange I tied, I bear my burdens alone,

Facing my fears, through life I’ve grown!

I carry the Lord over my head,

he gives me strength and will,

Hardships come and chances go,

but I do hang on still..

I got a house not a dream home,

you may call it Hiraeth,

My light doesn’t dim, my fight doesn’t wane and I never lose faith!

Diwali Vibes!!

I am the glamour, I am the glee,

I bring the energy and vibrance with me,

I light up the dark – be it sky or mood,

Would have been there all year, I wish I could!!

I am another occasssion to gather with your world,

I am another bonus that just got unfurled,

I am another reason to dress up real nice,

I am another victory – purity over vice!!

You know me very well and I love to bring you joy,

Aged ones with their children, little ones with their toy,

Like all my other friends, I too have a story,

When a righteous son returned – in full might and glory!!

But celebrate me with the spirit – of giving and care,

I am not only yours, but for all humanity to share,

Be joyous during my stay and keep well in health,

I am Diwali – I bring you luck and wealth!!

The Forbidden Apple

It was in the common gossip, everybody knew,

But no one seemed to get it, tried by quite a few…

Some tagged it cursed while some resorted to magic,

Fear engulfed them all that the thing could be tragic!!!

I was unaware, being aged just ten,

Believed whatever was written in papers with pen…

Set out to explore what was hidden from me,

Quenched my curiosity with what I could see!!!

Kept walking straight till sight guided the way,

Paid no heed to what the people did say…

“I’ll find it first”, a pride filled me in,

With a steely resolve, I waded through thick-n-thin!!!

As I entered the forest, darkness began to converge,

Quickened my pace, as thrill began to surge…

Lost all directions, went towards light,

Began doubting my judgement as it led to this plight!!!

Something shone bright, and I hid for cover,

The heart of the jungle wasn’t for the mundane lover…

I peeked out right to get a glimpse of it,

It shimmered in the darkness, like a thousand fireflies lit!!!

Before I could realize, my feet took me that way,

I was in dilemma, whether to leave or stay…

But curiosity shadowed fear for a ten year old,

I moved closer and closer, my actions grew bold!!!

And then it came to view, a sight never had I seen,

An object so bright, a feeling so serene…

As if under a spell, my hands went for the prize,

Feet on earth or floating in air, neither did I realize!!!

I grabbed it with my might, it was very warm and red,

Rather than taking home, tried to grab a bite instead…

Juts as my teeth touched its scarlet skin, I felt the earth sink deep,

To my surprise, I was in my room, wide awake from sleep!!!

Gone was the forest, gone was the tree, nothing left for show,

And why it’s called ‘The Forbidden Apple’, now I do know!!!
